Revo@work this Christmas Season
Tuesday, 08 Dec 2009

Over lunch last week with kuan cheen at Face to Face (Pan Meen shop in SS15), while paying the bill, we started a conversation with the shop owner at the cashier. Some of you who have been there would know who I am talking about here too. I asked her about the Christmas tree; and later about whether she is a Christian or not. To my pleasant surprise (as I had expected her to say that she just wasn’t one…a Christian); she said that she was “on the way” but not yet ready to commit! Wow! What an answer of “opportunity! …that God allowed us to hear simply because of obedience to talk about the Christmas tree (which in fact, kuan cheen and I were just having a conversation about over lunch… what radical things we do/talk about for Revo@work during the Christmas season!) And there we have it… a person in front of us that said that she was “on the way.”

We had a short chat with her after that on her business and also mentioned to her where we were from and that we were having our Christmas plays on soon. She told us that she has to be in the restaurant mostly. And we said that we totally understand. But this is where we now know how to pray for her, for her salvation in due time!

It is exciting when we step up and step out in faith. When we do that, we avoid doing things just out of duty or because you are asked to or expected to; and we also see the hand of God at work and find delight in doing it!! Remember Desire followed by Discipline that leads to Delight. Powerful message preached by Pastor recently.

May I say here that Christmas@work is meant to be only ONE Revo@work initiative that you can initiate during this season. We find that many PGs and YWAs still need “instructions” and suggestions to do a Revo@work act; hence the detailed guidelines, etc. But may I also challenge you to continue to think out of the box (of doing what you normally do during your lunch/working window of time) in how you can do something in your workplace this Christmas season.

An idea that you may want to adopt – As a group of YWAs eating in a restaurant this month, decide and agree that you would just pay for the next table’s meal. Share the cost. And make sure you tell them why you are doing this and be sure to pass them a minizine and Christmas production flyer. This radical act must be accompanied by a handout(flyer) and short explanation or “closure.” Try it!

Or you may just want to talk about the Christmas Tree with the shop owner and take it from there. Whatever you do, be guided by the Holy Spirit. J Yes, you may “mess up” at times or even but don’t let that stop you from stepping out still! Revo@work... Let it be a lifestyle of love expressed; love owed to our generation!
